Scanning
How many photo analyses do I get?
20 for life, free, on any account. 5erday+ is £3.99 a month and gives you up to 200 each calendar month. The month runs on UTC and unused analyses do not roll over.
Only a successful analysis counts. Opening the camera, retaking a photo, a failed analysis, a timeout and an outage all cost you nothing.
The estimate was wrong
It will be, sometimes. That is why the app shows you what it found and changes nothing until you confirm. Adjust the portion, remove anything it invented, or tap “Add something we missed”. Photos taken in good light, from above, with the food against a plain background are read most accurately.
What happens to my photo?
It is analysed and discarded within the same request. It is never saved to your phone or to our servers, and is never used to train anything. The full detail is in the Privacy Policy.
It says “Scanning is paused”
We have switched the camera feature off temporarily, usually because the analysis service is having problems and continuing would waste your allowance on failures. Everything else in the app works normally, and it comes back on its own.
Accounts
Do I need one?
No. Logging, reminders, streaks, achievements and your first 20 analyses all work signed out. An account exists so your diary survives a new phone, and so a subscription has somewhere to live.
Will I lose my progress when I sign in?
No. Signing in with Google, Apple or an email address attaches that method to the identity you already had, so your diary, your streak and your remaining analyses come with you.
The exception is if that Google or Apple account already belongs to a different 5erday account. The app tells you, asks first, and never merges two accounts.
I signed in with Apple and now I have an Android phone
Sign in with Apple is only available on iPhone. On your iPhone, open Profile → Signed in and add Google or set a password. Then you can sign in on Android with that.
I forgot my password
On the sign-in screen, enter your email and tap Forgot password?. The link arrives by email, opens 5erday, and lets you choose a new one. It works once and lasts about an hour.
I reinstalled before signing in and lost my scans
Unfortunately yes. Until you attach Google, Apple or an email address, a guest identity lives only on that phone, and uninstalling takes it with it. Adding a sign-in method takes about ten seconds and prevents this.
5erday+
How do I cancel?
- iPhone: Settings → your name → Subscriptions → 5erday → Cancel.
- Android: Play Store → profile → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions → 5erday → Cancel.
You keep 5erday+ until the month you have paid for ends. We cannot cancel it for you. The stores do not allow it.
I paid and the app still shows the paywall
Open the paywall and tap Restore purchases. If it still does not appear, check you are signed in to the same 5erday account and the same store account you bought with, then email us with the date of purchase.
Refunds
Apple and Google handle all refunds under their own policies: reportaproblem.apple.com or the Play Store order history. We are not able to issue one for a store purchase.
Reminders
If reminders are not arriving, check notification permission for 5erday in your phone's settings, and, on many Android phones, that 5erday is exempt from battery optimisation. Reminders are scheduled on the phone and fire without a network.
Deleting everything
Delete your account, in the app or by email if you have already uninstalled.
Contact
Telling us your phone model, your app version (Profile → About) and what you were doing gets you a useful answer much faster.
